Sussex Spaniels are more lethargic than other Spaniels and can do just fine in an apartment if they get enough exercise.

Sussex Spaniels would probably have died off during World War II were it not for a dedicated breeder named Joy Freer who saved eight dogs. Sussex Spaniels can make good watchdogs.
